Course Description:

This course is designed for dental hygiene students or recent graduates to help launch a successful clinical career. The first 5 years out of dental hygiene school can set the tone for the rest of your profession. The journey from student to professional can be both exciting and scary, but the journey does not have to be lonely. There is a whole professional community out there ready and willing to share their knowledge to help you transition from student to “the real world”. This course will help you think about the steps to take to be fulfilled as a clinical dental hygienist.

Course objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify your dental home – temping, DSO, private practice, FQHC, pediatrics, periodontics.
  • Determine your personal and professional values and ethics.
  • Review how to become a lifelong learner.
  • Investigate furthering your education - RDH to BSDH and beyond.
  • Examine professional development – networking, personal growth, caring for your mind & body.
  • Prepare for the journey - a journey does not happen overnight.
  • About the presenter:
