Avoid Code Blue will cover information on how to recognize the onset of a medical emergency and how to manage the situation. Since these skills are not used every day, reviewing this critical information could save a patient's life. Discussing common dental medical emergencies and how to treat them will be covered in this course, emphasizing the importance of an accurate, updated health history to help identify risks and prepare for a medical emergency.

Course objectives:

At the conclusion of this course the participant will be able to:

  • Identify common dental medical emergencies.
  • Illustrate risk factors to prevent possible medical emergencies.
  • Develop protocol to manage dental medical emergencies.
  • About the presenter:
    Diane Mullins, RDH, MS, CDIPC has over 25 years of dental experience which includes dental assisting, clinical hygiene, and education. Overall health and wellness have always been a passion of Diane’s where she can help others. Since the loss of her brother to suicide, Diane is passionate about bringing suicide awareness and prevention strategies to the dental community.

    Diane speaks on various topics related to mental and physical health, infection control, and suicide prevention. She obtained certifications in Dental Infection and Prevention Control and Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention Training.
