This interactive course is designed to prepare dental hygiene students for the pharmacology section of their board exams. Through engaging lectures, board-format questions, and real-world case studies, participants will deepen their understanding of pharmacological principles and their application in dental hygiene practice.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand Pharmacological Concepts: This course will help you gain a comprehensive understanding of drug classifications, mechanisms of action, therapeutic uses, and side effects relevant to dental hygiene.
- Apply Knowledge to Clinical Scenarios: Case studies can be used to apply pharmacological knowledge to real-life dental hygiene situations, enhancing critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Board Exam Preparation: Practice with board-style questions to get accustomed to the format and content of the pharmacology section of the dental hygiene board exam.
About the presenter:
Melissa Calhoun is a clinician, writer, speaker, and Instructor of Dental Hygiene at Tarrant County College.
She received her Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Pensacola State College, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from St. Petersburg College, and a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from MCPHS University.
Melissa presents continuing education courses to various professional groups throughout the United States. She is a published author in peer-reviewed journals on dentistry and oral health topics. She teaches radiology, pharmacology, oral embryology, histology, and anatomy courses. She is a professional Arm & Hammer/Therabreath educator and an SDA trainer with EMS. Additionally, she serves as the President of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene.
