Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, motivated **Lead Dental Assistant** to join our growing dental practice. The ideal candidate will have **7+ years of consistent dental assisting experience**, proven leadership abilities, and a passion for providing exceptional patient care. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to lead and mentor a team, and excellent organizational and communication skills.
~ Responsibilities
**Clinical Duties**
* Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures (general, restorative, surgical, and cosmetic as applicable)
* Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials following OSHA and infection control standards
* Take and process digital X-rays and intraoral images
* Perform chairside assisting, suctioning, instrument transfer, and patient monitoring
* Maintain accurate and thorough clinical notes in the dental software
* Educate patients on post-operative care and oral hygiene
* Ensure sterilization and proper maintenance of instruments and equipment
**Leadership & Team Management**
* Serve as the clinical lead and point of contact for the dental assisting team
* Train, mentor, and support dental assistants and new hires
* Ensure clinical protocols and standards of care are followed consistently
* Assist with scheduling, task delegation, and daily workflow efficiency
* Collaborate with the dentist(s) and office manager to improve clinical operations
* Lead by example in professionalism, teamwork, and patient care
**Operational & Administrative Support**
* Monitor and maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment
* Assist with ordering and managing supplies
* Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CDC, and state dental regulations
* Support smooth daily operations and troubleshoot clinical issues as they arise
* Communicate effectively with front office staff regarding patient flow and treatment needs
~Qualifications
* **Minimum 7+ years of consistent dental assisting experience**
* Prior **leadership or supervisory experience** in a dental setting required
* Current Dental Assistant certification and all required state licenses
* X-ray certification (required)
* CPR/BLS certification (required)
* Strong knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and materials
* Proficiency with dental software and digital radiography
* Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
* Professional demeanor with a patient-centered approach
* Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
~ Schedule & Availability
**Full-time, Monday–Friday availability required**
* No Weekends
