Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) – Job Description (Wed, Fri, 1 Sat per month)
We are a high-performing, fee-for-service dental practice seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) who is passionate about preventive care and building long-term patient relationships. Position Summary
The Registered Dental Hygienist is responsible for delivering exceptional preventive care, periodontal therapy, and patient education. This role works closely with the doctor and clinical team to support overall patient health and treatment acceptance through comprehensive evaluations and co-diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform prophylaxis, SRP, fluoride treatments, and periodontal maintenance
- Conduct periodontal charting and risk assessments
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and systemic health connections
- Take diagnostic radiographs and intraoral photos as needed
- Document findings and treatment notes accurately in Dentrix Ascend
- Collaborate with the doctor during co-diagnosis and treatment planning
- Support reactivation and recare efforts to ensure schedule productivity
- Maintain OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control compliance
- Participate in daily huddles and team meeting
- Recommend and present adjunctive services such as fluoride, sealants, and whitening
Qualifications
- Current RDH license in good standing with the state of NJ
- CPR/BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred
- Proficiency in Dentrix Ascend, digital imaging, and intraoral cameras preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-focused mindset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Performance Expectations
- Maintain 85–95% hygiene schedule productivity
- Achieve fluoride and perio acceptance benchmarks set by the practice
- Complete documentation by end of day, with no carryovers
- Actively support treatment acceptance through clinical findings
- Demonstrate consistent alignment with core values
