Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral health evaluations.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health.
Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside support, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to uphold safety standards.
Monitor patient responses during treatment, including vital signs, to ensure safety throughout procedures.
Collaborate with team members on treatment planning, documentation review, and medical coding for billing accuracy.
Stay current with advancements in pediatric dentistry, general dentistry practices, and healthcare infection control guidelines to provide the highest quality care.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures.
Proven experience working in a dental office or clinic environment with familiarity in dental terminology and equipment operation.
Proficiency in using EHR systems such as Dentrix for documentation management.
Strong knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.
Excellent communication skills for client education, team collaboration, and patient care instructions.
Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely following radiation safety guidelines.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy relevant to dentistry, and medical records management.
