Our beautiful, state-of-the-art periodontal specialty office is located in the heart of the Brier Creek community, and we’re on the lookout for an energetic and highly motivated team member to join our growing team! This is a dual clinical and front-office role requiring both dental assisting skills and experience with insurance coordination, treatment presentation, and patient financial communication. Your main role will be working as an insurance & patient care coordinator but will need to chairside assist when needed.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Patient Interaction & Care Coordination
- Greet patients and manage check-in and check-out processes in a professional and friendly manner
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments and manage the office calendar
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient questions and concerns
- Present treatment plans and review insurance estimates and financial responsibilities with patients
- Provide pre- and post-treatment instructions and patient education
- Follow up with patients after procedures to check on recovery and address concerns
- Coordinate care with referring offices and specialists as needed
2. Insurance & Financial Coordination
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
- Submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims and pre-authorizations
- Handle claim denials, resubmissions, and appeals
- Explain insurance coverage and patient out-of-pocket responsibilities
- Process patient payments and manage accounts receivable
- Generate and send billing statements
- Assist patients with financial arrangements and payment plans
3. Clinical & Chairside Dental Assisting
- Assist the periodontist chairside during periodontal and surgical procedures, including implants, grafting, and gum surgeries
- Prepare operatories for procedures and maintain a sterile clinical environment
- Set up surgical trays, instruments, and materials
- Take dental radiographs and impressions as permitted by certification and state regulations
- Prepare and position patients for treatment and ensure comfort throughout procedures
- Monitor patients and support clinical flow during treatment
- Support local anesthesia setup and surgical materials handling (if certified)
4. Clinical Operations & Equipment
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments and equipment
- Perform routine operatory turnover and infection control protocols
- Assist with ordering and managing clinical and office supplies and inventory
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office environment
- Assist with office cleaning tasks to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for patients and staff.
5. Administrative & Documentation Duties
- Maintain and update patient records in practice management software
- Assist with clinical charting and documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as requested
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and adherence to office policies and regulatory requirements
6. Team Support & Collaboration
- Work closely with the doctor and team to maintain efficient patient flow
- Serve as a back-up dental assistant or front desk coordinator as needed
- Assist in cross-coverage of front and back office duties
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive office culture
7. Professional Development
- Attend continuing education and training sessions as required
- Stay current with dental insurance guidelines, clinical protocols, and office systems
Position Requirements:
- At least 2 years of dental assisting experience AND 2 years of experience working with dental insurance and front office reception tasks
- Certification in taking X-rays and coronal polishing
- Must maintain an active CPR certification
