Dental Radiology Clinic
Position Summary:
The UMKC Dental Radiology Clinic is seeking a dedicated and experienced Radiology Dental Assistant with a strong background in radiographic imaging and a passion for teaching and patient care. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual who enjoys working in an academic clinical environment, supporting both patient care and the development of future dental professionals. Strong communication skills are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expose intraoral radiographs using phosphor plate and solid-state CMOS sensors.
- Capture high-quality digital panoramic, lateral cephalometric and CBCT images.
- Assist and supervise dental and dental hygiene students in acquiring intraoral and panoramic radiographs.
- Evaluate and approve radiographs taken by students to ensure diagnostic quality.
- Teach students proper preparation and disinfection protocols for radiology rooms.
- Support clinic operations through routine clerical tasks, including supply inventory management, lead apron inspections.
- Assist in pre-clinic instruction on radiographic techniques for novice students.
- Teach and oversee student development of infection control skills, including proper preparation, disinfection, and maintenance of radiology rooms before and after patient treatment.
- Support and enforce adherence to clinical infection control protocols and best practices.
- Assist with pre-clinic instruction of radiographic techniques for novice students.
- Participate in maintaining an efficient, safe, and student-centered radiology clinic.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficiency and effectiveness of the Radiology Clinic.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Certification OR Passing the Missouri Test of Basic Dental Assisting Skills
- 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience exposing intraoral radiographs with phosphor plate and solid-state sensors using sensor holding beam alignment devices
- At least 5 years of experience exposing digital panoramic radiographs
- Experience instructing intraoral radiographic techniques
- Experience instructing panoramic radiographic techniques
Anticipated Hiring Range:
- Up to 20.00 per hour
Shift:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
