Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including preparing the treatment area, sterilizing instruments, and handing instruments to the dentist
- Take and develop dental x-rays and perform medical imaging as directed by the dentist
- Prepare materials for impressions and restorations
- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures
- Perform dental receptionist duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and handling billing and insurance claims
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dental office and treatment rooms
- Follow infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment for patients and staff
- Conduct patient assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting medical history
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a dental assistant program preferred
- X-ray certification required; additional certifications such as CPR or Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certification is a plus
- Proven experience as an EDDA/ EFDA or similar role
- Familiarity with dental software systems such as Dentrix, Epic, Eaglesoft, Oryx, or similar programs
- CEREC certification preferred but not mandatory
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients of all ages
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
