Position Summary:
The Dental Treatment Plan Coordinator plays a crucial role in a dental practice by assisting patients in understanding their treatment plans and coordinating the necessary steps for effective and timely dental care. Key Responsibilities:
Treatment Plan Explanation:
Meet with patients to discuss recommended treatment plans, explaining procedures, benefits, and potential risks.
Answer patient inquiries, address concerns, and provide clear explanations in a compassionate and professional manner.
Collaborate with dentists and other dental professionals to ensure accurate and thorough treatment plan presentations.
Insurance Coordination:
Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, including eligibility, limitations, and pre-authorization requirements.
Communicate treatment plans to insurance providers, following their guidelines and ensuring necessary documents are submitted.
Facilitate discussions between patients and insurance companies, advocating for maximum coverage and resolving any disputes.
Financial Arrangements:
Provide patients with detailed cost estimates for treatment plans, including insurance coverage and out-of-pocket expenses.
Discuss available payment options, such as insurance billing, financing, or flexible payment plans, to assist patients in making informed decisions.
Coordinate financial agreements, ensuring necessary paperwork, signatures, and payment arrangements are completed accurately and efficiently.
Treatment Scheduling and Coordination:
Collaborate with the dental team to develop and organize treatment schedules based on patient needs, priorities, and availability.
Coordinate appointments, referrals, and consultations with specialists, ensuring timely and seamless transitions between procedures.
Maintain accurate records of treatment progress, appointments, and any changes or updates to treatment plans.
Patient Follow-up and Support:
Follow up with patients after treatment plan presentations, addressing any remaining questions or concerns.
Assist patients in understanding and adhering to recommended post-treatment care instructions.
Maintain open lines of communication with patients throughout their treatment journey, providing support and guidance as needed.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in dental assisting or dental office management is a plus.
Proven experience in a dental office or healthcare setting, preferably in a treatment coordination or patient coordination role.
Solid knowledge of dental procedures, terminology, and insurance practices.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex treatment plans in a clear and understandable manner.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate record-keeping and scheduling.
Proficiency in dental practice management software and computer literacy.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
