At Thurmont Smiles, we’re more than just a dental office. We’re a growing, wellness-focused practice that believes in looking beyond the teeth and understanding the connection between oral health and overall wellness. We’re continuing to expand our approach to care by incorporating biological dentistry and advanced treatment options to better serve our patients.
We are currently seeking a part-time dental hygienist to join our team while our full-time hygienist is on an extended medical leave. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a supportive team, values patient education, and is excited to be part of a practice that is continually growing and evolving.
Position Details
• Position: Part-Time Dental Hygienist
• Schedule: Tuesday–Friday, between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break.
• Flexible Hours: We understand that everyone has different scheduling needs. The position will be part-time, with flexibility in the number of days and hours worked within our Tuesday–Friday schedule.
• Compensation: Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
• Location: Thurmont Smiles | Thurmont, Maryland
• Future Opportunity: Although this position will initially provide coverage during our current hygienist’s extended medical leave, we would be happy to explore a permanent full-time or part-time position when our hygienist returns, depending on the needs of the practice and the right fit for everyone.
What You’ll Do
• Provide comprehensive hygiene services, including prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, and scaling and root planing (SRP).
• Perform periodontal charting, oral cancer screenings, and saliva testing.
• Take dental X-rays and intraoral photographs.
• Provide ozone therapy and laser treatments as appropriate to training and clinical protocols.
• Educate patients on oral health, preventive care, and the relationship between oral health and whole-body wellness.
• Help create a positive, comfortable, and personalized patient experience.
• Collaborate with the dental team to support excellent patient care and efficient office systems.
• Embrace opportunities to learn about and implement biological dentistry principles and techniques.

• A licensed dental hygienist in good standing in Maryland.

• An individual who is interested in biological dentistry and a more whole-body approach to oral health.
Experience with ozone therapy, laser treatments, or biological dentistry is not required. We are happy to welcome someone who is eager to learn, open to new approaches, and excited to grow with our practice. A willingness to learn and an open mind are essential!
