The Receptionist is responsible for providing front-desk support and exceptional customer service to patients while ensuring accurate administrative, billing, and insurance-related processes. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in verifying insurance coverage, handling patient inquiries, processing payments and refunds, and maintaining accurate patient records. The Receptionist works closely with clinical staff, student doctors, and patients to ensure efficient operations, compliance with established protocols, and timely resolution of patient accounts.
Duties for Receptionist area include but are not limited to:
- Greet patients and inquire about their needs.
- Verify insurance coverage; copy insurance cards and guide patients through appropriate forms to be signed.
- Answer patient questions regarding billing statements and insurance coverage.
- Answer patient phone calls and transfer calls to others within the Department or the School as appropriate.
- Compute discounts and post fee waivers on patients’ charts when applicable.
- Take patient credit card information over the phone, always following established protocol.
- Reverse payments per instructions from the Cashiers and post notes to patients’ charts.
- Post returned statements to patient charts and unlock patient charts when allowable.
- Sort mail and write patient chart numbers on checks for Cashiers to post daily.
- Route checks not belonging to the General Clinic to their respective destinations.
- Run CAD collection reports as required.
- Process patient refunds by card or check in accordance with policy.
- Perform miscellaneous projects and other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $15.00 - $18.25 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
