Maternity Leave Coverage - October 2026 to March 2027

Wellspring Dental is looking for a Dental Hygienist to join our team on a temporary basis while one of our hygienists is out on maternity leave. We anticipate coverage will be needed from approximately October 2026 through March 2027**, Monday - Friday.

** The office will be closed for the Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving and from December 24 - January 4 for the holidays.

We’re looking for an experienced, warm, and patient-focused hygienist who can step into our team, learn our systems and protocols, and provide the same thoughtful, high-quality care our patients have come to expect from Wellspring.

As a temporary hygienist, you’ll be responsible for providing comprehensive preventive and periodontal care while becoming an integral part of our team.

Your responsibilities will include:
Providing thorough, compassionate hygiene care tailored to each patient
Taking appropriate diagnostic radiographs according to Wellspring protocols
Performing periodontal assessments and communicating findings clearly
Educating patients about their oral health and helping them understand the “why” behind recommended care
Partnering with the doctor to identify and communicate areas of concern
Maintaining detailed, accurate clinical notes before the patient leaves
Reviewing and documenting relevant patient information, including fun facts, occupation, and hometown, to help us create a more personal experience
Clearly communicating recommended hygiene intervals and helping patients stay on track with their care
Coordinating smoothly with assistants and the front desk
Keeping your operatory organized, stocked, and ready for the next patient
Proactively communicating with the team about delays, patient needs, or anything that may affect the schedule
Walking patients to the front desk and ensuring the handoff is seamless, including communicating any follow-up needs, X-rays, fluoride, or reappointment recommendations

Required:
At least 2 years of dental hygiene experience preffered
Active NYS Dental Hygiene license
Strong work ethic and reliability
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A genuinely patient-focused approach
Ability to work independently while being a strong team player
Comfort working in a fast-paced, patient-centered private practice
Willingness to learn and follow Wellspring’s clinical protocols and systems

Our Hygiene Philosophy:
We want our hygienists to have enough time to provide thorough, high-quality care, educate patients, and build relationships, not simply move from patient to patient.

We also believe the hygiene appointment is an important opportunity to help patients understand their oral health. Our hygienists partner closely with the doctors and are expected to communicate relevant findings and provide patients with a clear understanding of their oral-health needs.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate
Experience: 2+ years preferred
Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays 10am - 6pm + Thursday, Fridays 8am - 4pm
