Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Dental Billing Expert to join our growing dental group and oversee billing operations for multiple dental offices. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of dental insurance billing, claims management, accounts receivable, and insurance follow-up. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely reimbursement, reducing aging accounts, and maximizing collections across all locations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the dental billing process from start to finish, including claim creation, submission, payment posting, and insurance follow-up.
Review patient charts, treatment plans, and documentation to ensure accurate billing and coding.
Submit electronic and paper insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner.
Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, frequencies, limitations, and coverage details.
Review and reconcile Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs).
Follow up on outstanding insurance claims and aging accounts receivable.
Research and resolve claim denials, rejections, and underpayments.
Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status, appeals, and payment discrepancies.
Work closely with office managers, treatment coordinators, and front office teams to resolve billing issues.
Maintain accurate patient account records and billing documentation.
Generate and review aging reports, collection reports, and billing performance metrics.
Assist patients with billing inquiries and payment-related questions while providing excellent customer service.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and company policies.
Support billing operations for multiple office locations
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum of 3 years of dental billing experience.
Strong knowledge of dental insurance plans, PPO billing, claims processing, and accounts receivable management.
Experience with insurance claim appeals and denial management.
Familiarity with CDT coding and insurance billing guidelines.
Proficiency with dental practice management software.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and SmartSheets
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Preferred:
Experience supporting multiple dental office locations or a DSO environment.
Experience with Open Dental, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, DentalXChange, or similar systems.
Knowledge of medical cross-coding and ICD-10 coding when applicable.
Experience using Dental Intelligence for reporting, analytics, and performance tracking.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Reduction of claims over 90 days.
Timely resolution of denied and outstanding claims.
