Job description:
Position Summary:
The Prosthodontic and Oral Surgery Assistant performs a wide range of clinical duties to support the efficient operation of the practice. This role contributes to a positive patient experience and maintains strong working relationships with patients, staff, dentists, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare treatment rooms for all operative procedures
Turn over rooms efficiently between patients
Seat patients and obtain necessary consents
Stock and restock rooms with instruments prior to procedures
Sterilize operatories and instruments in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines
Monitor schedule changes and procedure flow to prioritize tasks effectively
Take and scan dental radiographs using office equipment
Assist hygienists with charting accurately and efficiently
Assist the dentist during procedures, including prosthodontic and surgical cases
Perform laboratory duties, including pouring models and fabricating whitening trays
Coordinate case submissions to dental labs, ensuring accurate entry into software and appropriate turnaround times
Maintain an active CPR certification
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Practice Administrator or Dentist
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Completion of a dental assisting program or relevant on-the-job training
X-ray certification
Active CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications:
2–3+ years of professional experience
Surgical experience preferred, but not required
Experience assisting with All-on-4 cases is highly desirable
