Position Summary
My NYC Dentist is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and clinically excellent Dental Hygienist to join our growing team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality preventive and periodontal care, providing patient education, and supporting the clinical team in delivering an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a team player, and is committed to clinical excellence and long-term patient health.
Key Responsibilities Preventive & Periodontal Clinical Care
Perform dental prophylaxis (adult/child), periodontal maintenance, and scaling and root planing (SRP) as indicated.
Take, process, and review dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations.
Conduct periodontal charting, intraoral examinations, and collect diagnostic data for the dentist.
Apply preventive agents such as fluoride and sealants.
Patient Education & Experience
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, home care routines, and preventive dentistry.
Build strong rapport with patients, helping them feel comfortable, informed, and cared for.
Explain treatment recommendations in coordination with the dentist and clinical team.
Clinical Documentation & Compliance
Document care accurately in the dental software system (notes, perio charting, radiographs).
Consistently follow OSHA, infection control, and sterilization protocols.
Maintain a clean and organized operatory, preparing rooms and equipment between patients.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with dentists, assistants, and the front office team to support smooth patient flow.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive and professional clinical culture.
Support scheduling and recall efforts through strong patient communication and follow-through.
Required Qualifications
Active New York State Dental Hygienist license (required).
CPR/BLS certification (required).
Strong knowledge of preventive dentistry, periodontal care, and patient education.
Excellent chairside manner and communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently while maintaining exceptional clinical quality.
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of experience as a Dental Hygienist (new graduates welcome if clinically strong).
Experience with digital radiography and modern dental technology.
Familiarity with dental practice management software (Dentrix / Open Dental).
Experience working in a multi-office dental group is a plus.
