Dental Hygienist

OVERVIEW:

Join our dynamic dental team as a full-time Dental Hygienist and become a vital part of delivering exceptional oral healthcare! This is a permanent position with a four-day work week (Monday–Thursday, closed Fridays).

In this role, you will use your expertise to provide comprehensive patient care, promote oral health education, and support the overall functioning of our dental practice. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, root planing, and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.

Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to monitor patient health status.

Conduct periodontal charting and patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, evaluating dental conditions, and updating records.

Capture and evaluate radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.

Work with the dentist during hygiene exams and help communicate recommended treatment to patients.

Maintain infection control standards through aseptic technique, sterilization procedures, and OSHA guidelines.

Document treatment accurately in our practice management software (Open Dental).

Protect patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.

Provide friendly, patient-centered care for patients of all ages, including children.
Qualifications

Active dental hygiene license in Illinois (or eligible), with local anesthesia certification preferred.
Current CPR/BLS certification.

Strong knowledge of dental terminology, periodontal care, infection control, and aseptic technique.
Experience with dental practice software (Open Dental preferred; Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar welcome).

Excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to educate and connect with patients.
