Job Description
As a Registered Dental Assistant at Smile Avenue Family Dentistry, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our dental practice. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing chairside assistance during a variety of dental procedures including general, restorative, and cosmetic treatments.
Performing expanded functions as permitted by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, such as coronal polishing, pit and fissure sealants, and the placement and finishing of composite restorations under the supervision of a dentist.
Taking and processing digital X-rays as well as performing comprehensive dental charting.
Preparing, breaking down, and sterilizing operatories following each patient, adhering strictly to OSHA and infection control standards.
Taking alginate impressions and fabricating temporary crowns.
Assisting in specialty procedures such as Invisalign fittings, implant restorations, extractions, and root canal treatments.
Educating patients about post-operative care and oral hygiene best practices.
Maintaining accurate and timely patient records using Open Dental software.
Managing operatory supplies and keeping track of inventory needs.
Facilitating a smooth flow of patients by communicating effectively with both the front office and clinical teams.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
Active RDA registration with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
A minimum of one year chairside assisting experience in a general dentistry setting.
Demonstrated experience with expanded functions, including coronal polishing, sealants, and composite placement.
Proficiency in digital X-ray capture and dental charting.
Familiarity with Open Dental practice management software is a plus.
Current CPR/BLS certification, or willing to obtain upon hiring.
Strong skills in four-handed dentistry, with an ability to effectively anticipate the needs of the procedure and dentist.
Professional demeanor focused on patient care, with superior communication skills.
