Orthodontic Assistant Duties
Clinical Procedures:
• Placement, adjustment and removal of orthodontic appliances (braces, aligners, wires, color ties) under the supervision of orthodontist.
Diagnostic/Progress/Final Records:
• X-rays (panoramic/cephalometric), extraoral and intraoral photographs & digital scans and/or impressions.
Patient Care & Education:
• Preparing patients for treatment, instructing on proper oral hygiene with appliances, and answering questions.
Sterilization & Setup:
• Sterilizing instruments, maintaining and setting up treatment rooms to ensure a clean, safe environment.
Lab Work:
• Performing in-office laboratory tasks, such as fabricating Essix retainers or study models.
Administrative Tasks:
• Managing appointment flow and documenting treatment progress accurately. Scheduling patient appointments and assist with administrative tasks as needed. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Inventory & Supplies:
• Manage and order inventory.
Orthodontic Assistant Qualifications
• Dependable
• DA II (preferred); DA I must have radiology certification
• CPR Certification
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Maintain organized and efficient workflow in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow instruction and work collaboratively
• Professional, well-organized, and detail-oriented
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and technologies
