Position Type: Short- term Contracted Dental Assistant
Position Length: 3 Months
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm /Breaks varies based on clinic 30minutes to 1 hour.

U.M. FDSP Associates is a non-profit affiliate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. U.M. FDSP Associates is the organization that provides patient care focused staffing for the clinic operations so that faculty and students may provide patient care to the general public.

Position Overview: U.M. FDSP is seeking Short-Term Contracted Dental Assistants to support various clinical departments across the institution. This role provides temporary staffing support to meet departmental needs and may be tailored based on clinical workflow and procedural requirements. Assignments are temporary in nature and may last up to 90 days, depending on clinical demand.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities may vary by clinic and may include:
• Four-handed dentistry support tailored to departmental needs
• Occasional Chairside assisting during patient care
• Operatory setup, breakdown, and Chair turnover
• Instrument handling and infection control compliance
• Supporting faculty, residents, and students as applicable
• Assisting with patient flow and clinic efficiency
Specific duties will be outlined by the hiring clinic.
Required Onboarding & Compliance
All short-term contracted dental assistants must complete UMSOD onboarding requirements, which include:
• HIPAA training
• Infection Control training
• Bloodborne Pathogens training
• Familiarization with Axium software (as applicable)
• Orientation to UMSOD clinical equipment and workflows
Onboarding must be completed prior to or at the start of the assignment, as directed.
Qualifications
• Dental Assistant experience required
• Active Maryland dental assisting credentials (as applicable)
• Experience of four-handed dentistry
• Ability to adapt to different clinical environments
• Professional, dependable, and compliance-oriented

Compensation & Contract Terms
• This is a 1099 independent contractor position
• Compensation is paid weekly or bi-weekly.
• A completed and signed W-9 is required prior to payment
• No benefits are associated with this role
