Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will oversee daily clinical operations, support the dental team in delivering exceptional patient care, and ensure smooth workflow within the dental practice. Your leadership will help foster a welcoming environment while maintaining the highest standards of infection control, patient safety, and clinical excellence. Duties:
- Supervise and mentor dental assistants and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations and excellent patient service
- Assist with chairside procedures across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing expert support during complex treatments
- Manage patient flow by coordinating appointments, verifying insurance details, and preparing medical documentation in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems on OpenDental
- Take and develop X-ray images while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols
- Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging to support comprehensive patient evaluations
- Ensure all clinical areas are maintained with aseptic technique and proper infection control procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records, including medical coding and documentation for billing and legal compliance
- Support dental reception duties as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries
- Operate advanced equipment like 3D scanners and assist with the integration of new technology into daily practice
Requirements:
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic environment, with a strong background in general dentistry (2 years experience preferred)
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as OpenDental ; familiarity with EzDenti or similar platforms is advantageous
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining patient confidentiality and safety
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while following safety protocols
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and medical documentation practices
- Experience with chairside assisting during various procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and restorative treatments
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and provide outstanding patient care
-Certification in CPR/BLS preferred
