What we expect

Providing excellent hygiene care is a major part of the job, but so is helping patients understand their oral health and the treatment that can improve it.

We want a hygienist who can:

• Provide thorough, high quality preventive and periodontal care.
• Build relationships and make patients feel comfortable and cared for.
• Collect excellent diagnostic records, including periodontal data, digital scans, X-rays, and clinical photographs.
• Show patients what you see, rather than simply telling them.
• Educate patients throughout the appointment about their findings and treatment options.
• Recognize potential treatment needs and confidently start those conversations.
• Prepare and “warm up” the patient for the doctor and Treatment Coordinator so treatment recommendations aren’t being introduced for the first time at the end of the appointment.
• Reinforce the doctor’s recommendations and help patients understand the why behind their treatment.
• Be comfortable helping patients say yes to dentistry they need or can genuinely benefit from.

Dentistry is healthcare and it is also a business.

We believe patients deserve to understand what’s happening in their mouths and what can be done about it. That requires collecting the right data, presenting it clearly, educating the patient, and communicating the value of treatment.

We aren’t looking for high pressure sales. We are looking for someone who understands that identifying a problem without effectively educating the patient about the solution doesn’t accomplish much.

Our hygienists play an important role in case acceptance and practice growth, alongside the doctor and Treatment Coordinator.

We strongly believe in comprehensive dentistry, including periodontal treatment and Perio Protect, Invisalign, preventive and minimally invasive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and laser dentistry/laser esthetics when appropriate.

You don’t need to be an expert in everything on day one. We will train the right person. But you must be curious, coachable, comfortable talking about dentistry, and confident recommending appropriate treatment.
